Anthology:(The Blood Bar Chronicles # 1)The Alphas

Summary:
'In Her Element'
By Jorja Lovett

Ana Chapman is ready for a little excitement in her life. She gets more than she bargains for when she steps foot in the Blood Bar in Edinburgh to meet her writer friends. Spontaneous orgies and the supernatural are nothing compared to one ex-Fire Elemental, Zanaan, who stops at nothing to show her the time of her life.
When a surprise visit from his father, Djin, predicts an all-out supernatural war, it has him wondering how can he prevent it now he’s a human?

'The Alpha’s Vixen'
By Cherie Nicholls

Dora "Dizzy" Williamson is a busy lady, but she finally made time to meet some of her writing group in a new bar. Surely a couple of hours with the ladies wouldn't be too bad, right?
Xander Di Rista is CEO and Alpha to his pack, so being drawn to a new bar that prickled his fur didn't sit too well with him. Tonight felt different, there were too many Supernatural’s in one place, but only one human stood out to him. One he intends to claim and protect because hell wasn’t just breaking loose, it was coming to town.

'Saving Hope'
By Doris O'Connor

Noelle has only one thing on her mind — how to save her sick daughter from a mysterious illness. The night out with the girls ought to be a distraction, but it turns out to change her life forever.
Fate is not something Henri, a two thousand year old vampire, takes lightly. When he steps into the bar teeming with Supernaturals, there is only one scent he finds. Noelle was the one woman he’d never forgotten. She held a secret that could cause a war. With time finally ticking in his ear, there is only one decision he can make — he has to protect her or die trying.

'Perfect Timing'
By Arya Grey

Josie McNair may be all fire on the outside, but her lack of self confidence had her insides twisted over meeting her writing group. She begins to realize there are more creatures in the world than she first suspected and finds herself thrown into a life where time has no meaning.
Time Traveling peace-keeper David Malm could never believe in love again. When a future Henri instructed him to look in at the Blood Bar on this particular night, he didn’t envision it turning into a Supernatural disaster let alone be in the throws of passion with a beautiful stranger. Josie re-ignited something in him he'd thought he lost forever and he would do anything to keep her safe.

The stories have three elements in common: a siren call, a prophecy and a group of friends meeting in an unknown bar at each story's start.

In Her Element - Jorja Lovett

Ana Chapman has come from Northern Ireland to meet the members of the online Wicked Ladies of Fiction writers group, not a man. And certainly not a siren call.

There is a saying, “men want a lady in the living room and a whore in the bedroom,” and women's desires are not so different. We all want a gentleman in the living room and a stud in the bedroom, like this heroine.

“If you keep doing that, I can’t promise to remain a gentleman.”

Ana smiled. The first genuine one he’d seen all night. “Who says I want a gentleman in my bed?”

However, Zanaan is not a gentleman. He's not even human. He is an Elemental. And Ana is the only human who manages to break through his supernatural defenses and can see him without him wanting to.
Dammit!  Why couldn’t she have picked up a regular working class guy for her  dirty weekend and then gone home? It would have been much simpler, with a  lot less motion sickness involved.
Loving her  gives him back his soul and he finds himself slowly becoming a human. He  finds himself spouting the most romantic words to her. To learn more  about the mermen and this supernatural lore, read the book!

“We  slept together, I hope, because we wanted to and not as a result of  horny mermen or supernatural lore. I know from the first moment you  fixed those chocolate eyes on me, I lost my heart to you, Ana. That’s  unheard of for an Elemental. Just being with you makes me more human.”

It should all be so simple. The feelings are shared and true ... but  they have to face Zanaan’s father and still help one of Ana’s friends.

A wonderful tale, I loved it. 4.5 stars.

The Alpha’s Vixen — Cherie Nicholls

Dora—Dizzy to her friends, is with her friends on their monthly  get-together when she meets Xander, the alpha of one of North America’s  largest packs
His  wolf wanted to break free and claim this woman. Xander de Rista was a  thirty-four-year-old man who owned his own company, was successful,  independent, owned properties worldwide, and was the alpha of one of  North America’s largest packs, and all he wanted to do was drop to his  knees and beg her to never leave him.
Because of  the siren call, Xander has to take Dizzy away from danger. And when she  discovers what he is and that all her friends have been abducted by  supes, she swears she will find them.

“I  didn’t even want to go to that frigging bar; I have so much going on at  work right now. But they bombarded me with emails and text messages,  making me promise to come. See? I knew those bloody women would be  nothing but trouble,” Dizzy told him.

If she ever got her hands on  them, they were dead meat, once she made sure they were all okay. But  right after she checked them, they were dead for sure.
A wonderful tale, I loved it. It has terrific characters and an amazing  storyline. To this, Ms. Cherie Nicholls adds torrid scenes and her own  marvelous sense of humor.

“Mate, funny changing eyes, superman strength, and fangs? If it looks like a vampire and smells like a vampire, it’s a vampire.”
The next time those girls suggested meeting up in an unknown bar she was killing them herself.
Hi, my name is Xander, and I squeak when girls bite my little butt.
5 stars for this outstanding story.

Saving Hope — Doris O’Connor
Noelle was out with her friends when she is shocked to see Henri, a man  from a memorable one-night stand years ago that sired her daughter he  knows nothing about. The siren call joins them together. The voices that  began to beckon to her some time ago are telling her that she is safe  with him, but she isn’t quite so sure. Especially when she realizes that  he is a vampire. Voices, Henri's powerful friends, tell her all about  the siren call.

There  was a merman at the bar tonight. He used his siren call to enslave you  and your friends to want to have sex with him or any other willing man.  It’s why I had to get you out of there so fast.

There were a lot of supes at the club tonight and your friends are all taken care of.

You mean they are all now being shagged senseless by God only knows who?

Hours later, she discovers the man with the voice she's been hearing in  her head and he informs Henri that he has a daughter, Hope, who he must  protect at all costs. Hope is ill because she can’t stand the sun. She  needs to drink from her parents to survive … and Noelle has to be turned  because of that.

We discover something about the prophecy, that there will be a war over Hope, Henri’s daughter—the first vampire hybrid.

I enjoyed reading this story. 4 stars

Perfect Timing — Arya Grey

Josie McNair accompanies her friends to a new bar where she meets David  Malm, a time traveler. Because of the siren call, he takes her to his  home. When she discovers the truth about him, she begs to go see  Cleopatra. There in Egypt, she becomes entangled in an orgy orchestrated  by Cleopatra.

When Cleopatra’s priest has a vision about Hope,  the daughter of Josie’s fiend, they have to go back to help her  friends—but not before the queen gives Josie an unusual power.

I liked the story. 4 stars.

Wow, this must be one of the best anthologies I have read. I loved the  way each storyline rolls out to reveal more about the prophecy. Hope  must be protected or there will be a war between supernatural beings  over her. She turns out to be the first vampire hybrid.

The stories are wonderfully connected and the overall anthology deserves the 5 stars I rate it.
